Nearly two weeks after the Liberty City mass shooting took place, police are still searching for the killer. Miami rap stars Trick Daddy and Uncle Luke planned to visit the crime scene; they were expected to tell people there that it’s ok to snitch. Police hope their influence will help them solve the crime in this tight-lipped community.

They’re killing people; the no snitch law is killing people,” said Lt. Joseph Schillaci at City of Miami Police Department. “It’s, it’s we just got it ingrained, the streets got it ingrained, no we just can’t snitch.”

Liberty City neighbor Sondra Gibbs says she believes Trick Daddy and Uncle Luke will be able to reach people.

Yeah I honestly do because they love the music and they try to be just like ’em,” said Gibbs, “because they know how hard it is to live. They’ve been on both sides of the tracks.”

By Tuesday evening Luther Campbell (Uncle Luke) was seen on the scene talking to people, but Trick Daddy called to cancel.

Meanwhile local police and social service agencies are teaming up to form a rapid response team. Together they want to target runaways, troubled teens and other issues in Liberty City, Overtown and Brownsville. The idea is to curb crime before it happens and hopefully prevent another massive shootout like the one nearly two weeks ago.
