Watch out Diggy Simmons. It seems that progeny of another hip-hop vet are ready to stake a claim in the music business. Brothers Solomon “Trips” Davis, 20, and Dayquan “Slim” Davis, 22, are the off spring of Harlem, NY’s own Doug E. Fresh. Together they perform as the duo Square Off but are not trying to ride their fathers coattails into the rap game.
“A lot of people think we might have had it easier because of our father, but we’ve been rapping since 11 and are still putting out mixtapes and still in the streets. It hasn’t been easy at all,” said Trips. “My father told us this industry is not built for weak people.”
The graduates of Rice High School have already released several mixtapes and next month they will release their album named Money, Moët & Memories.
