The rap parody film, “Monkey Gang: The Mockumentary” has won the Audience Award at the Queens World Film Festival due to the enthusiastic reaction of the crowd who came to see the movie at the Jackson Heights Cinema last Friday in Queens.

The crowd laughed throughout the evening and contributed positive feedback during the Q&A session following the film. Not only did the crowd react to the humor of the film, but they also received the message of the movie which critiques the glorification of drug dealing, violence and misogyny in hip hop.

Movie critic, Jay Fingers from the Website, soulhead, was at the premiere and gave the movie an A-  with a very positive review.

Monkey Gang: The Mockumentary is an extremely entertaining film. It’s genuinely funny, with uproarious set pieces, memorable characters, and solid storytelling. It works as both broad comedy and intelligent satire, and if it finds the right audience, it has the makings of a true cult classic.
