Who is Zimmerman juror B37? B37 is one of the six women who served on the jury during the George Zimmerman trial for the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin which resulted in a not guilty verdict on July 13.
She is a middle-aged white woman and the daughter of an Air Force captain, according to USA Today. She has been married to a space attorney for 20 years, and rumor has it, he is also a friend of Zimmerman defense attorney, Mark O’Mara. She is the mother of two, a 24-year-old and 27-year-old, and works in a management position.
During questioning, she told lawyers she knew a “broad spectrum” of names, but she hasn’t kept up with the case. “Newspapers are usually in the parrot’s cage,” she has said. She also told O’Mara that she “had an issue with what kinds of guns people can own, that someone obtaining a concealed weapons permit doesn’t mean they will act responsibly and that more training is needed for concealed permit holders.” She’s an animal lover. She owns three dogs, four cats and “a couple of lizards.” This was her fifth time being called to jury duty.
She had an interview with Anderson Cooper, and she was the first juror to break her silence on the case. According to Mediaite, B37 believes that Zimmerman did not exercise good judgment in following Martin. “When he was in the car and he called 9-1-1, he shouldn’t have gotten out of that car,” she said. “But the 9-1-1 operator, also when he was talking to him, kind of egged him on. I don’t know if it’s their policy to tell them what to do, not to get out of the car, to stay in their car. But I think he should have said, ‘Stay in your car,’ not ‘Can you see where he’s gone?’”
It was also revealed that she was going to write a book about her time on the jury to one of the highest profile cases of this century. Due to social media, the literary agent who was in the works with her has since taken back the offer. She has been anonymous since speaking out, so we will have to see if she decides to reveal herself any time soon.
