Kerry Washington may be bringing her commanding presence to the DC Universe. We just cannot get enough of how Kerry pretty much runs Washington D.C. as Olivia Pope on “Scandal,” and that role may have put her right in line for action-packed new gig.
There are whispers that producers for a film adaptation of “Suicide Squad” are eyeing that the “Scandal” actress to play Amanda Waller, Screen Crush reports.
Amanda is to the Suicide Squad what Nick Fury is to the Avengers–only her team is pretty much completely made up of super villains. She herself may not have super abilities, but she is definitely wields her power as she dispatches them to take on different, slightly questionable missions.
In the past, Amanda was always depicted as a woman with a fuller figure to reinforce her imposing nature. When DC rebooted it’s universe with the New 52, though, Amanda got a tighter frame as part of her makeover. This upset a lot of readers, but even with a slimmer frame we trust that she will still be large and in charge in the Suicide Squad movie!
Kerry herself has not spoken out on rumors of the dream casting at this time. If the chatter is to be believed, then she would join an elite group of women to have taken on the role. Angela Basset played Amanda in “Green Lantern” and CCH Pounder has voiced the character.
