This isn’t Space Jam 2, but the studio behind the first one — Warner Bros. — is keeping tight with LeBron James. Warner Bros. has invested $15.8 million into James’s Uninterrupted platform, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Uninterrupted was created by James in a partnership with Turner Sports’ Bleacher Report as a video platform for athletes to personally connect with the fans. The likes of Ronda Rousey, Serena Williams and James himself have used it. It’s essentially the video equivalent of Derek Jeter‘s The Players’ Tribune, where Kobe Bryant delivered the news of his upcoming retirement.
The investment also isn’t the only time WB backed James’s off-the-court pursuits. James’s SpringHill Entertainment, which produces Survivors’ Remorse and Disney XD’s Becoming, signed a deal with Warner Bros. back in July in order to expand content.
While this investment is impressive, it’s definitely not his biggest. Nike gave him a $90 million/seven-year deal before he was drafted to the Cavaliers in 2003. James also rakes up $42 million a year in endorsements from Coca-Cola, Blaze Pizza, Upper Deck, Samsung, Dunkin Donuts and Audemars Piguet, according to Forbes.
